Back pain sufferers are constantly searching for natural back pain remedies before resorting to extreme measures like medications and surgeries. Exercise has become very popular for people of all ages in trying to relieve back pain.

One very widespread exercise is Pilates which is an exercise that focuses on strengthening and improving flexibility of the muscles that support the spine. By doing these exercises, back pain is eventually eliminated over time, which varies from person to person.

Pilates involves a series of stretches that are carried out in a specific order. Concentrating on several muscle groups at the same time is vital in order to have the spine aligned properly. The ultimate goal is to achieve total body health.

The Pilates routine is based on several principles which include proper alignment of the spine leading to better posture, correct breathing, improved flexibility and reduced stress levels.

Movements are performed in a specific sequence with some repetitions and an emphasis on proper breathing. As with every exercise routine, the movements should be customized to account for specific fitness levels to avoid injury. By practicing Pilates 2-3 times a week for 45 minute to 1 hour sessions and maintaining a healthy diet you can also achieve your optimal weight.

Your doctor can help you determine whether Pilates is an appropriate form of exercise for you, and it’s critical that you rely on his or her judgment to avoid further complications.

Back Pain Causes and Remedies

When you start talking to people about back pain you start to understand that more people than you realize suffer from back pain for many different reasons. People of all ages from young children to seniors are suffering daily and this has a very negative effect on their quality of life.

In addition to all the causes of back pain there are just as many back pain remedies and all so different from each other. There are medical treatments from vitamins and herbs to prescription medications, cortisone shots and even surgery. Then there are the different exercise routines that include yoga, pilates, swimming, stretching and the list is endless. And then there are the different neck, back and leg braces. All the different shoes to help relieve back pain is another consideration and let’s not forget all the mattresses designed to rid us of back pain.

Before attempting any kind of treatment it is essential to determine the cause of the pain. In kids it could be as simple as getting them the right shoes or making sure the school bag is not causing strain on their back. In adults and seniors an injury while playing sports, or bad posture sitting at a desk. Excess weight and lack of exercise can contribute to the problem. There is always the possibility of a medical condition that is causing the pain and that is why it is important to determine the origin of the pain.

Of all the back pain remedies, there is no one solution for all and trial and error is the best way for one to find the best solution for him or her. Any treatment should be studied carefully and always consult a doctor to make sure you are fit and don’t have any medical condition that could worsen the problem.
