Sleeping is an essential activity for the physical and emotional well being of our body. Studies have shown that not getting a good night’s sleep has very negative results and has an effect on the quality of our daily activities whether they are work related or pleasure.

A firm mattress or a bed board should be used when suffering from back pain. For people who like to sleep on the side, put a pillow under your head and one between your legs before bending your knees, and for those who sleep on the stomach, one pillow should be placed under the abdomen and none under the head for best sleeping posture. Back pain can make it hard to get a good night’s sleep. But these simple back pain remedies can minimize your pain during then night giving time for your muscles to heal.

Identifying Back Pain Causes

When back pain starts there are warning signs that should not be overlooked. For instance, if your back hurts at one time and stops, and later it starts hurting again, this is an indication that there is a problem. In short, the first time your back starts hurting is the sign. You want to pinpoint when the first pain started. Once you pinpoint that, you should try to figure out what brought about your back pain. For instance, did you fall? Were you in a motorized accident? Was it from a sudden move you made?

Once you find the reason for your back pain, you want to consider the symptoms. Did you feel pain and how severe was it? Did you feel weak? Was your back stiff or numb?

It’s also important to determine where the pain started. Did the pain start at the lower back? Was the pain at the top area? Did the pain cause additional pain, such as around the neck? Was the pain intermittent? Did the pain consistently cause stress? Did the pain shoot to other areas of the body?

Did the pain get worse, when you walked, stood, sat, or lied down? Did the pain decrease, or increase? Was there something that relieved the pain completely?

When you first injured your back, did the symptoms change gradually? Did the symptoms interrupt your daily duties and how? How did the symptoms change? If your back pain is the result of an accident and you had medical tests performed, what were the results of those tests?

Is your back pain caused from surgery, joint conditions, musculoskeletal disorders, or disease? Does your job require mandatory lifting of heavy objects? Is your job emotionally stressful? Do you stand long hours and if so have you considered the possibility of unsupportive shoes? Do you sit long hours and do you have a proper chair with a supportive back?

How are your exercise habits? Do you workout often. Do you engage in stretch exercises? What is your stress level? Do you do something active to relieve stress?
Do you have a hereditary back problem in your family?

Answering all these questions can help you inform your doctor, as well as understand the cause of your condition so you can determine the best approach to this problem and choose the right back pain remedy.

Once you are able to answer many of these questions related to your back condition you will be in a much better position to tackle this problem, whether with medical help or on your own. There are many back pain remedies from resting, cold and hot presses, massage therapy, chiropractic support, exercises like stretching, yoga and pilates, medication and sometimes surgery. Whatever you do, avoid ignoring the symptoms.

The conveniences in our every day life as opposed to our grandparents have many advantages but at the same time have created a way of life that can be somewhat harmful to our physical well being.

We live in one of the richest and most progressive countries in the world, but the sad thing is that many of us are very unhealthy and we have the most obese people in the world. One third of Americans are obese and the number of obese children has tripled in the past 20 years.
Being overweight or obese is a major health concern and one of the major causes of back pain. So much money and research are spent on finding the best back pain remedies.
The spine is designed to carry the body’s weight and distribute the loads encountered during rest and activity. When excess weight is carried, the spine is forced to absorb the burden, which may lead to structural compromise and intense back pain.
Physical activity, eating right and managing your weight is extremely important and needs to be taken very seriously. Overweight patients often suffer from back pain due to inactivity which worsens back symptoms and problems. Back Pain Remedies and its Causes

When you start talking to people about back pain and back pain remedies, then you start to understand that more people than you realize suffer from back pain for many different reasons. People of all ages from young children to seniors are suffering daily and this has a very negative effect on their quality of life.

Before attempting any kind of treatment it is essential to determine the cause of the pain. In kids it could be as simple as getting them the right shoes or making sure the school bag is not causing strain on their back. In adults and seniors an injury while playing sports, or bad posture sitting at a desk. Excess weight and lack of exercise can contribute to the problem. There is always the possibility of a medical condition that is causing the pain and that is why it is important to determine the origin of the pain.

Of all the back pain remedies, there is no one solution for all and trial and error is the best way for one to find the best solution for him or her. Any treatment should be studied carefully and always consult a doctor to make sure you are fit and don’t have any medical condition that could worsen the problem.
